DIY Eucalyptus Shower Steamers

Transform your shower into an oasis and enjoy a spa day at home with our DIY Eucalyptus Shower Steamers. Eucalyptus Essential Oil is an easy way to refresh and invigorate for a morning boost while enjoying the benefits of aromatherapy. Plus, eucalyptus is great for opening up congested airways. While these steamers can be customized with any Paradise Springs Essential Oil (try Lavender Oil for relaxation or Rosemary Oil for focus), we think Eucalyptus Oil is perfect for the upcoming cold months ahead. This easy recipe uses natural ingredients, including arrowroot powder and kaolin clay to help the steamers last longer in the shower. Give them a try for your self-care routine (they also make a great stocking stuffer for friends and family).

Benefits of Eucalyptus

Originally native to Australia, Eucalyptus globulus is a native evergreen shrub. Its leaves (which are cultivated and steam distilled to make eucalyptus oil) naturally contain constituents known as 1,8-cineol and α-pinene. These constituents are used therapeutically in aromatherapy to help open airways, relieve congestion and clear sinuses. These DIY steamers are great for enjoying the benefits of eucalyptus oil through steam inhalation- perfect for the quick morning routine!

What You'll Need:

  • 1 cup baking soda
  • 1/2 cup citric acid
  • 1/3 cup arrowroot powder
  • 1/8 cup kaolin clay
  • 1 spray bottle filled with water
  • 100 drops Paradise Springs Organic Eucalyptus Oil
  • Mixing bowl, spoon
  • Silicone molds
  • Optional: 1/8 Tsp green mica powder and 1 Tsp fresh herbs

To Make

Add the baking soda, citric acid, arrowroot powder, kaolin clay and mica powder (if using) into a large mixing bowl. Whisk until combined, then add the Eucalyptus Essential Oil and give it a quick stir.

Spritz the mixture with a few sprays of water and incorporate immediately, mixing well.

If using dried herbs, evenly distribute across your molds. Then, add the mixture evenly across the molds, pressing firmly. (Tip: wear gloves during this step to avoid the citric acid being too harsh on sensitive skin).

Let the steamers sit in the molds for 24-48 hours until mixture is completely solid.

Use & Storage

To use, gently peel the mold off the steamer. Place the steamer on the floor of the shower in a shallow dish near the drain to keep your shower floor from getting slippery. Enjoy the aromatherapy benefits of invigorating Eucalyptus Essential Oil.
