Welcome! We appreciate all of our consumers, from those just getting started to those with decades of knowledge. We recommend speaking with a qualified healthcare practitioner who is familiar with your health, medications, etc. No online resources know you as well as your medical doctor.
We recommend performing your own research to bring to your physician to discuss. Not sure where to start? Harvard Medical School teamed up with HelpGuide to document and share lots of beneficial information, including Vitamins and Minerals.**
**Note that there are MANY free online resources available. Nature's Lab (DrVita) has no connection to HelpGuide or Harvard in any way. We just think this is a great resource to get folks started learning about nutrition from a reputable organization.

Note: Rural areas may take additional time to receive shipments. If you have a gate on your property or if you require a signature for delivery, your package may be returned to DrVita by the carrier - additional charges to re-ship may apply.
Visit our Shipping page for more details.

Product Questions
Most capsules are hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC), also known as hypromellose. The capsules are manufactured using non-animal, vegetarian-based ingredients. Some ingredients on certain products cannot be manufactured effectively using vegetarian capsules - in such instances, we use a gelatin capsule (primarily bovine or porcine-sourced).
Capsule size varies depending on the formula, serving size, and other factors. We use anything from 000, 00E, 00, 0E, 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. For reference, capsule size 000 holds ~ 1,000mg, 00 holds ~ 735mg, 1 holds ~ 400mg, and 3 holds ~ 200mg.
Click here to view an image comparison of capsule sizes.
Yes, the majority of our products in capsule form are safe to open and consume the powder. Mix the contents with food or a shake. Avoid opening anything with an enteric coating, delayed-release capsules or tablets, and soft gels.
The variance of capsule contents is normal with most products, particularly those with botanical active ingredients. The time of year the harvest took place, as well as seasonal changes in the region can impact the color of the plant, final powder, etc. A particular ingredient may be a darker red color within one bottle (lot), then a lighter pink color in another, as one example. Other causes to variation are raw material suppliers, which can be from all over the globe depending on the ingredient. In any case, if you have questions or concerns about appearance or color, please reach out to us.
No, we do not recommend ingesting Paradise Springs essential oils. Paradise Springs essential oils are 100% pure, which means they are not diluted in any way. Even the Paradise Springs blends are made of 100% pure essential oils.
Essential oils are highly concentrated and, therefore, quite potent. These oils are intended to be used in small amounts (a few drops at a time), and we always recommend diluting them in a carrier oil, water, lotion, or some other form of carrier for topical use. Most of our essential oils come with regulator caps or droppers to help you use them safely. Please read all of the warnings on essential oil product pages and/or product labels before using.
If you experience an issue due to misuse, please call Poison Control at (800) 222-1222 (or online) or call 911. We love our essential oils and know they help consumers, however, essential oils can be dangerous (particularly for children) if used incorrectly.
Wildcrafted means that the plants from which the oils are extracted are harvested from their natural, or “wild” habitat. This process means there are never any unwanted chemicals such as herbicides or pesticides introduced into the plant’s growing life cycle. Care is taken to only remove the necessary plants, flowers, or branches, so that plenty remain to continue supply.

Supplement Regulations & Best By Date
Yes. The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulates dietary supplements (considered food). A common misconception of consumers is that supplements are not regulated and therefore manufacturers can make any claims they want regardless of what is factual. THIS IS FALSE.
Most of the misunderstanding stems from the confusion between dietary supplements (meant to supplement one's diet) and drugs (medication). Drugs are available by prescription or over-the-counter (OTC) and are subject to more stringent regulations due to the manufacturing of synthetic goods meant to cause a physiological effect when introduced into the body. Dietary supplements are defined as a subset of food and are regulated as food, including amino acids, botanicals, enzymes, herbs, minerals, vitamins, or any other biologically active ingredient that benefits the user in the achievement of health or therapeutic goals.
Nature's Lab follows the instructions established by the United States Government, specifically the Food and Drug Administration, or FDA. The FDA is responsible for ensuring that dietary supplements are safe and properly labeled in order to be sold to consumers in the US (click here to read What does FDA do?).
Dietary supplements are considered food and are thus regulated by the FDA (click here to read What does FDA regulate?). Refer to CFR (Code of Federal Regulations) Title 21, detailed below. In short, Supplements are Part 111, Food is 110 and 117.
FDA Title 21 CFR Part 110 - Current Good Manufacturing Practice in Manufacturing, Packing, or Holding Human Food
FDA Title 21 CFR Part 111 - Current Good Manufacturing Practice in Manufacturing, Packaging, Labeling, or Holding Operations for Dietary Supplements
FDA Title 21 CFR Part 117 - Current Good Manufacturing Practices, Hazard Analysis, and Risk-Based Preventive Controls for Human Foods
DSHEA is an acronym for the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act of 1994, Public Law 103-417, 103rd Congress. The purpose of the DSHEA Act is to amend the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act to establish standards with respect to dietary supplements, and for other purposes.

Nature’s Lab conducts stability testing on our products, which ensures the potency of every ingredient at the product’s best by date. Because of our stability testing program, Nature’s Lab can guarantee that its products meet 100 percent of the product's label claims up to the time of the best by date.
All products sold on natureslab.com will be shipped with a best by date that allows a single bottle to be used as directed before expiration. For example, a 60 day supply supplement will not be shipped if the best by date is within 60 days. If you're planning to order multiple bottles, please feel free to contact us to confirm the expiration date of our current inventory.
Although we cannot advise customers on using a product after its best by date, it certainly won't harm you if you do use it. It doesn't mean the product has "gone bad" – it just means one or more of the ingredients might be at less than 100 percent potency.
