It’s a topic we rarely talk about, but it is extremely important for self care, wellness and quality of life. Our sexual health can be affected by a variety of factors outside of the bedroom. Here are a few ways keep your sexual health intact.
Do Kegel Exercises
Most women have heard of kegels but they are beneficial for men too. Kegel exercises are simple to do. The same muscle that is used to stop the flow of urine is the one that is activated when doing Kegel exercises.
The squeezing of this muscle strengthens the pelvic floor. The pelvic floor muscles support the genital organs, bladder, and intestines. Strengthening these muscles can help with bladder issues and sexual function.
A good routine for doing Kegels would be 10 repetitions held for 3-5 seconds each, three times per day.
Talk it Out
Making regular time for intimacy is a great way to reconnect with your partner and relieve stress. Serious issues in a couple’s relationship that aren’t worked through can easily spill over into the bedroom.
Couples’ retreats with activities designed to foster communication and simply having fun with your partner can have a significant impact on your relationship. As Author Mark W. Boyer says, “Lack of communication can drive a spike between two people wider than any physical distance.” Couples therapy isn’t only for those with serious issues. It is a wise choice for those looking to maintain their bond and deal with issues before they become huge problems.
Take Supplements
Supplements can help improve ATP energy production and circulation, both of which are important for sexual health.* Here are some nutrients that have had promising clinical studies and may improve sexual health.
L-Arginine
L-Arginine supports healthy circulation by naturally increasing nitric oxide levels in the body. Nitric oxide relaxes blood vessels and can promote healthy blood pressure. Nature's Lab L-Arginine Extra Strength contains not only L-Arginine but citrulline, and beet root powder which encourages nitric oxide production.*
Hyaluronic Acid
Hyaluronic acid is the body’s internal moisturizer providing cushioning and lubrication in the joints and moisture in the skin. Research shows that you can enhance your body’s own hyaluronic acid with supplementation. An easy way to add hyaluronic acid into your routine is Nature's Lab Hyaluronic Acid with BioCell Collagen and MSM, which provides 100 mg of hyaluronic acid per serving.
DHEA
DHEA, or dehydroepiandrosterone is produced in our own bodies in the adrenal glands. It is a precursor to estrogen and testosterone. DHEA levels typically begin to fall as we age with a noted decrease around age 30. There is some evidence that DHEA can help in regulating various hormones throughout the body, including sex hormones estrogen and testosoterone.* Nature’s Lab DHEA contains 50mg of micronized DHEA. The smaller micronized particles can enhance the body’s absorption.*
Tribulus Terrestris Extract
Tribulus Terrestris is an herbal extract has a positive effect on testosterone levels in the body.* Studies show it may support a healthy bladder and urinary health while enhancing libido.* Nature's Lab Tribulux Max contains Tribulus terrestris extract with 45% standardized saponins. This herb has been used in ancient Chinese medicine for centuries to support performance by boosting testosterone.
Being proactive about your sexual health is one of the best ways to improve quality of life. Nature's Lab sexual health collection can assist you in taking care of this important facet of your health.
