DIY After Sun Care with Jojoba Oil
Summer is almost here, and so is sunshine and warm weather. This week, we're sharing different ways to incorporate Jojoba Oil into natural after sun recipes, including calming sprays, hydrating moisturizers and reviving hair serums. If extra time in the sun is leaving your skin dry or in need of some TLC, try these natural alternatives to pre-made products.
After Sun Spray with Jojoba, Aloe and Peppermint Oil
For many of us, aloe vera is a traditional favorite for helping soothe sensitive skin after too much time in the sun. For a natural, homemade alternative to pre-made aloe products, try this hydrating, cooling recipe with these simple, moisturizing ingredients:
Witch hazel: refreshes and soothes skin
Aloe Vera Gel: moisturizes and soothes skin, helps aid against inflammation
Vitamin E Oil: acts as a hydrating antioxidant to fight premature aging and dehydration of skin
Paradise Springs Jojoba Oil: Hydrates and moisturizes skin
Paradise Springs Peppermint Oil: Soothes and cools irritated skin
What You'll Need
- 2 Tbsp Witch Hazel
- 1/4 cup Aloe Vera
- 1 teaspoon Vitamin E oil
- 2 Tbsp Paradise Springs Jojoba Oil
- 2 drops Paradise Springs Peppermint Oil
To Make
Shake spray bottle well before use, as oils may separate. Spray the mixture directly onto skin after exposure to sun for a soothing, cooling effect.
Use & Storage
To use, spray directly onto skin after a day in the sun to hydrate and soothe. Shake spray bottle well before use, as oils may separate. While you can store this mixture at room temperature, we prefer storing it in the refrigerator for an extra cooling effect.
After Sun Face Moisturizer with Jojoba and Lavender Oil
Try this after sun moisturizer and show your face some extra TLC. We combine the hydrating properties of Jojoba Oil with calming Lavender Oil to soothe skin and moisturize naturally. Lavender has anti-inflammatory properties, making it a great essential oil for after sun care due to its ability to ease inflammation and soothe dryness.
What You'll Need
- 1/2 cup shea butter
- 1 Tbsp Paradise Springs Jojoba Oil
- 1 Tbsp fractionated coconut oil
- 5 drops Paradise Springs Lavender Oil
To Make
Combine shea butter, Jojoba Oil and coconut oil into a glass bowl. Set the bowl over a pot of boiling water to create a double boiler. Heat over medium heat until ingredients are melted, stirring gently. Remove the mixture from heat and add the Lavender Essential Oil.
Use & Storage
This recipe is best applied after washing the face. Apply a dime size amount to palm and work into clean skin (face and neck) daily. Store in an airtight jar at room temperature in a cool, dry place.
After Sun Hair Care with Jojoba and Ylang Ylang Oil
We love this hair serum after a long day outdoors. Extended time outside can lead to hair breakage, scalp dryness and dull-looking strands. This simple recipe contains Paradise Springs Ylang Ylang Essential Oil, which works to help detangle hair, promote shine, and stimulate hair growth, and Jojoba Oil for a hydrated scalp.
What You'll Need
- 4 Tbsp Paradise Springs Jojoba Oil
- 7 drops Paradise Springs Ylang Ylang Oil
To Make
In a heat-safe bowl, heat Paradise Springs Jojoba Oil until warm. Make sure the temperature is comfortable to the touch. Add seven drops of Paradise Springs Ylang Ylang Oil and stir. Use immediately.
Use & Storage
To use, apply the warm mixture to dry hair, starting at the scalp and massaging gently, working the oil from scalp to ends. Wrap hair in a warm towel and let sit for approximately 30 minutes. Rinse and follow with your favorite shampoo and conditioner as normal. This simple recipe should yield enough oil for one use, so no storage is necessary.
