DIY Holiday Peppermint Handsoap
Looking to bring the holidays into your home, or perhaps the perfect gift idea? This simple DIY soap recipe featuring Paradise Springs Essential Oils is a simple and festive way to bring in the holiday season. We include cooling, antibacterial Peppermint Oil with hydrating Jojoba Oil and vitamin E oil in this recipe to keep hands hydrated and spirits cheerful.
Peppermint Oil
Peppermint is a classic essential oil with a wide variety of uses. Peppermint is often added to soap to work as an antiseptic skin cleanser. It also contains menthol, giving it a great cooling sensation on skin. It can also release itchiness and irritation within moderation, making it great for those dry winter months ahead. And, lets not forget: this essential oil classic is traditionally associated with candy canes, holiday food recipes and other inviting scents of the season.
Hydrating Jojoba
Jojoba Oil is a carrier oil derived from nuts produced by the Jojoba shrub. Carrier oils are neutral oils that can be used as a base to dilute and "carry" concentrated essential oils, protecting skin so that it does not come into direct contact with concentrated extracts. Additionally, it acts as a humectant to seal skin with a protective barrier to lock in moisture, mixing perfectly with the salt in this recipe to make a gentle, exfoliating scrub. Jojoba Oil is also hypoallergenic and noncomedogenic, meaning its structure imitates the skin's natural oils to keep pores free from buildup. We also include vitamin E in this recipe to allow long-lasting moisture retention between skin cells.
What You'll Need
- 1/2 cup liquid castile soap
- 1/2 cup distilled water
- 1 Tbsp vitamin E oil
- 1 Tbsp Paradise Springs Jojoba Oil
- 20 drops Paradise Springs Peppermint Essential Oil
- 8 oz jar with pump
To Make
In a mason jar or recycled soap dispenser, add the water first. This will prevent bubbles from forming. Add the liquid castile soap, followed by the oils. Cover with a lid and shake to mix.
Use & Storage
To use, simply shake the soap dispenser gently before use, as the oils may settle. Dispense a few pumps onto hands and wash thoroughly. Store on bathroom or kitchen countertops for the whole family to enjoy.
