DIY Rose Face Cream

Valentine’s Day is almost here. Whether you’re staying in or going out, start the day with a good DIY self care routine. Not only does this face cream come packed with romantic floral notes, it also makes a great addition to your own skincare regimen (or the perfect gift for a loved one). This face cream features Paradise Springs Geranium Essential Oil for a calm, even complexion, with the additional option to add rose petal powder or rose essential oil for antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties perfect for showing your skin some love on this romantic holiday. Try this face cream for glowing, hydrated skin on February 14th and beyond.

Hydrating Jojoba

Jojoba Oil is a carrier oil derived from nuts produced by the Jojoba shrub. Carrier oils are neutral oils that can be used as a base to dilute and "carry" concentrated essential oils, protecting skin so that it does not come into direct contact with concentrated extracts. Additionally, Jojoba Oil acts as a humectant to seal skin with a protective barrier to lock in moisture. Jojoba Oil is also hypoallergenic and non-comedogenic, meaning its structure imitates the skin's natural oils to keep pores free from buildup.

Flowers for Skincare

Floral essential oils are a perfect match for natural skincare solutions. This face cream features Paradise Springs Geranium Essential Oil as one of its star ingredients. More than just a flower, this oil contains anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties to soothe and tone skin. It’s also known to be calming and grounding, making it perfect aromatherapy addition to start or end your day. Additionally, you can add optional rose essential oil or rose powder into this face cream. Not only will the scent pair wonderfully with geranium, rose offers additional dermatologic properties to soothe and calm skin to further boost the beauty benefits of this easy-to-make cream.

Shea & Cocoa Butters

Shea and cocoa are both hydrating butters that we love adding to DIY skincare routines. Shea butter is a great moisturizer and, like jojoba oil, is non-comedogenic, so it’s a light, non-greasy addition perfect for all skin types. Cocoa butter is equally hydrating and also contains rich phytochemicals to promote blood circulation to the skin while working to approve the appearance of skin texture.

 What You’ll Need

To Make

To make this floral face cream, melt the shea butter and cocoa butter using a double boiler method. To do this, add the butters in a heat-safe glass bowl over a shallow pan of water and place over medium heat on the stove. Remove from flame and add the Jojoba Oil and Geranium Oil (and rose oil, if using). Let the mixture sit at room temperature for 2-3 hours until set, then use a hand mixer to mix until light and fluffy. Transfer to an airtight jar.

Use & Storage

To use, wash face and apply cream as part of your skincare routine. This face cream is light enough to be used during the day and before bed. Store in a cool, dry place in an airtight jar.
