Green Tea and Lemon Oil Face Mask

Green Tea and Lemon Oil Face Mask

If winter weather is leaving your skin dull, try this energizing DIY face mask. This recipe features green tea and brightening Lemon Essential Oil and hydrating Jojoba Oil from Paradise Springs. Not only is this recipe packed with natural antioxidants, but green tea contains natural caffeine and tea tannins that may help shrink blood vessels and revive skin for a natural glow. While you can add this mask to part of your nighttime self-care routine, we like it for a perfect morning boost to start the day off glowing and energized.

Energizing Green Tea

This recipe features green tea in the form of wax (Camelia sinensis leaf extract) or matcha powder, depending on your preference and what you can find at your local health store or online. The green tea wax will give the mask more of a balm-like consistency, while the powder combined with the oils will yield more of a traditional paste. Both contain great benefits, however, as green tea has naturally-occurring compounds and antioxidants that can help brighten skin, fight redness and inflammation, combat puffiness, and stimulate blood vessels for the appearance of glowing skin.

Brightening Lemon Oil

Lemon oil has astringent and antimicrobial properties that can help reduce redness brighten and even skin tone. The antibacterial properties of lemon oil can also help clear pores and gently cleanse the skin. Plus, the invigorating, citrus scent is perfect for an energizing morning boost. This recipe features Paradise Springs Organic Lemon Oil, which is cold pressed from fresh peel and certified USDA Organic.

What You'll Need

To Make

Use a double boiler method to melt the beeswax over medium heat. To do this, fill a pan with a few inches of water and bring to a boil before reducing to medium heat. Place a heat-safe bowl with the beeswax pellets on top of the pan until melted, about 5 minutes.

Next, remove the bowl from heat and quickly add the Jojoba Oil, vitamin E oil, green tea and Organic Lemon Oil. Mix well, then pour into a small glass jar. Place in the refrigerator to cool for at least 30 minutes.

Use & Storage

To use, scoop out a generous amount of the mask and apply to freshly cleansed skin. Apply to face and neck as desired, and let sit for at least 15 minutes (you can also use this as an overnight mask, too). If using in the morning, apply an SPF-infused moisturizer after use, as lemon oil may cause photosensitivity in certain skin types. Store at room temperature in an air-tight jar.
