Benefits of Cranberries
Cranberry is a naturally acidic native evergreen shrub that grows in the northeastern and north-central parts of the United States. Cranberry fruit contains a rich source of polyphenol compounds (proanthocyanidins) that help promote a healthy urinary tract by supporting the health and integrity of the bladder walls.*
Considered a "superfruit," cranberries (Vaccinium macrocarpon) contain a group of compounds known as proanthocyanidins (PACs), dietary flavonoids that act as antioxidants.* Antioxidants help neutralize free radicals, or molecules which can damage living cells and result in oxidative stress.* Free radicals result from oxidation, a natural process which occurs when we digest food, exercise, or simply breathe in and out.* In addition to supporting antioxidant health, PACs may also support urinary tract health.*
Cranberries & Urinary Health
Cranberries have a long history of use in supporting urinary tract health.* The proanthocyanidins in cranberries help inhibit the adhesion of harmful pathogens to cells lining the urinary tract.* Limited scientific studies suggest cranberry may help already healthy women reduce UTI's.* The sugars found in one cup of cranberry juice is nearly 10% of the daily recommended value (DRV) for sugar. Nature’s Lab Cranberry offers the benefits of 5,400 mg of cranberry without the sugar found in traditional cranberry juice.
